Adventure in the Land of Good People: Yoga, Scuba, SurfTofo, Mozambique
1-8 and 8-15 Feb, 2020
About the retreat
Tofo Mozambique Yoga Scuba Surf Retreat is a unique retreat that you won’t find anywhere else. We discover a still sleepy African beach paradise: Tofo. It offers world class scuba diving and warm, tropical water that is ideal for surfing (also for beginners). Our venue is located right on the beach, so you can listen to the waves from your bedroom! Yoga classes will be held on the beach platform, surrounded by the unlimited sandy beach and the immense ocean. Our chefs treat you every day with delicious and healthy meals. This is THE PARADISE that you have been looking for! Beside pampering ourselves in this tropical paradise, we also give back: visit the local community, learn cooking the traditional recipes with local women, and each retreat sold, supports directly a local construction project! On top of this, you will meet the sweetest people ever, and you will be in a breathtaking environment! The retreat is both available for yoga instructors (who would like to travel with their own group) and individuals.

Thanks to its sheltered azure waters, white sands, easy access and fine diving, the beach at Tofo has long been legendary on the Southern Africa holiday circuit. The magnificent beach runs in a long arc, at the centre of which is a small town with a perpetual party atmosphere. Many people come to Tofo expecting to spend a few days, and instead stay several weeks or more.
The people are nice and friendly – as a matter of fact, the are of Inhambane is known as the Land of Good People, a name given to it by Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. Upon his arrival in 1498, oral legend claims it began to rain and the native people took the explorer in and offered him shelter. Touched by the act of kindness, da Gama called the place Terra de Boa Gente (Land of the Good People).
Mozambique is golden sand beaches.
Mozambique beckons with its coastline and swaying palms, its traditions, its cultures, its vibe and its opportunities for adventure. This enigmatic southeast African country is well off most travelers’ maps, but it has much to offer those who venture here: long, dune-fringed beaches, turquoise waters abounding in shoals of colorful fish, well-preserved corals, remote archipelagos in the north, pounding surf in the south and graceful dhows with billowing sails. Add to this colonial-style architecture, pulsating nightlife, a fascinating cultural mix and vast tracts of bush.

Before booking, please consult your doctor about necessary vaccination and malaria prophylaxis.
Tofo is generally very safe and locals are friendly with tourists. However, it is very important to have travel insurance that covers all possible incidents as well as a cancellation. Our recommendation is World Nomads.
How to get there
Flights run regularly from Europe (Lisbon) to Maputo and from Maputo to Inhambane, a coastal city about 30 minutes away from Tofo. Flying is the fastest and easiest way to get to Tofo and this way you avoid the hassle of long drives.
Things to do
Go scuba diving.
Diving is incredible here, something that can not be missed.
Head out on an ocean safari.
Tofo is known as one of the best places in the world to spot whale sharks. As a bonus, humpback whales, dolphins, manta rays and more may also be hanging around.
Try your hand at surfing.
Tofo can get gorgeous rolling waves–if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at surfing and is a great spot to learn.
Do nothing. Seriously.
Your favorite thing to do in Tofo can very quickly become… nothing.
With a beautiful empty beach at our doorstep, you will find yourself killing hours relaxing in front of the water, admiring the view while reading and casually spotting whales in the distance.
It is incredibly relaxing to slow down, get into a very chilled out routine, and enjoy the charms of Tofo without feeling like we needed to be rushing off to explore something else.
