About the retreat

The second edition of a project we are really enthusiastic about: blending interior design and consciousness. This retreat has been created for everyone who is interested in interior design and style, is keen on learning about authentic, traditional artisan techniques and products. This retreat is designed to be a deep immersion in Tuscan history & culture, with a strong focus on design and artisan trends, that can be implemented in our daily lives.

Italy is a fantastic country with a very long history or art and architecture.

On this creativity and art retreat we will visit unique buildings, wineries and palazzos that are not open to the public! We will also learn about and practice ancient artesan techniques, visit workshops and taste some amazing food.

We would like to invite you to this unique journey, where you will see and learn colours and patterns and the beauty of ancient architecture. The retreat is both suitable for professionals of design and / or architecture and amateurs who are design enthusiasts.

The retreat will be held at the stunning organic farm Ebbio, a simple, yet stylish house in the middle of the Tuscan countryside. Your host will be Sibilla, stylist and the owner of the farm.

You will be led through the program by Andrea Forizs, founder of Breathspiration, designer & travel enthusiast. There will expert guides showing us the hidden secrets of towns and palazzos, gastronomic find and excellent wines.

If you are looking for an experience that you haven’t lived before, a retreat in Tuscany that is very different to all the others on the market, please get in touch and book your spot!

Location

Monteriggioni is a commune in the province of Siena in the Italian region Tuscany. It borders on the communes of Casole d’Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Colle di Val d’Elsa, Poggibonsi, Siena, and Sovicille. The town is architecturally and culturally significant; it hosts several piazzas, and is referenced in Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy.

It is a great starting point to discover the area.

Things to do

Ancient Walking Trail:  Via Francigena
The Via Francigena is the ancient route that in medieval times connected Canterbury to Rome. Nowadays it remains a path of pilgrimage, as the way of Santiago di Compostela but also represents a different way to discover Tuscany. Take a journey through time in close contact with the environment and locals.

City of Art
In Tuscany, there are 7 sites protected by Unesco and some of them are very close by. Monteriggioni is within walking distance (1.8km) and once in the village, you can take a visual tour of the towers of the Tuscan countryside. Siena (15km) and Florence (45km) considered being open-air museums. Pisa with its pendant
tower (100km), San Gimignano (25km) and Volterra (40km) with their competing medieval towers are within reach. Valdorcia (38km) and it’s surreal Tuscan landscapes, Pienza (85km), San Galgano (39km), famous for the prophecy of the sword in the stone and Arezzo (85km) where you can find beautiful alfresco from Piero della Francesca. Colle val d’elsa is just 10 km away and has a stunning old town still out of main tourist circuits.

Wine Routes and Panoramic Drives
Chianti is another entertaining itinerary that is quite close. The main sites to visit are Castellina in Chianti (15km) Radda in Chianti (25km) and Greve in Chianti (34km). Just the drive through the wine cultivated hills justify the excursion.
Other destinations rich in history, combining a panoramic drive with a degustation experience are Montalcino (55km) with his Brunello wine. Montepulciano (75km) known for the Nobile di Montepulciano wine and Bolgheri, famous for its cypress-lined road and the prestigious Sassicaia wine.

Relaxation / Thermal
For a tour with a restorative soak, visit Bagni Vignone, (40km) a medieval village built around a pool of natural thermal hot spring water. Rapolano Terme (45Km), Bagni San Filippo (80km).
